Restoration of Maya ruins at the 1893 Columbian exposition

What kind of materials do you think we are looking at here? This is allegedly the Mayan Exhibit built for the purposes of the 1893 Columbian Expo in Chicago.

I don't quite know what it is but it reminds me of coral castle in Florida for some reason. Maybe a one off? Very unique, good find!

"Restored" is an odd turn of phrase, because the finished product is still partially ruined. To give it that authentic flavor, no doubt.

I am absolutely no good at judging construction materials from a photograph, @jd755, do you want to take a crack at this?

Seriously, the Columbian Exposition is a gift that keeps on giving. I don't recall seeing these pictures before.
